New Staff Workshop 2009

Newly hired school employees attended Local 943’s annual “New Staff Workshop” to get acquainted with the Union. The workshop held in August covered many topics including the structure of the union, certification and tenure, the importance of saving for your retirement, and the rights and responsibilities of being a union member.

Participants were encouraged to read their union contract and contact their building rep or council president with any questions. The workshop ended with an energetic presentation by Local 943 vice president Mary Stockwell providing teacher tips and advice on classroom management.
