Rachel Garner
Rachel Garner (pictured left with her parents) is one of Local 943's scholarship winners for 2010-2011. Rachel will graduate from H.L. Richards High School and plans on attending Illinois State University in the fall where she will major in social work. She hopes to be a high school social worker so she can help teenagers realize that people really do care about them. Rachel's mother, Jane, is a teacher in Evergreen Park District 124. |

Marissa Ripoli
Marissa Ripoli (pictured right with her mother) is also a winner of a Local 943 scholarship for 2010-2011. Marissa will graduate from Victor Andrew High School and plans on attending the University of Iowa where she plans on studying nursing. She hopes to be a certified Emergency Nurse or Emergency Nurse Practitioner. Marissa's mother, Jacqueline, is a teacher at Century Junior High In Orland Park. |

Daughter of Local 943 Member Wins $6,000 Scholarship
|
| Carly Rocco was selected to receive one of two IFT Robert G. Porter Scholarships. Carly is a recent graduate of Lyons Township High School and is attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is the daughter of Barbara Rocco, a member of the Burbank Council of Local 943. IFT President Dan Montgomery presented Carly with the Union Scholarship.
