70 Support Staff Members Attend Retirement Workshop

On October 28 the local hosted an IMRF and Social Security workshop. Despite a few glitches, more than 70 support staff received important information pertaining to their retirement. Carol Ortmann from IMRF explained the basics of our retirement benefits and Paul Cordes from the Joliet Social Security office also had some useful information.

So everyone that attended should know:

  • What happens if I become disabled?
  • How is my retirement computed?
  • Who contributes and how much?
  • How is my social security benefit calculated?
  • What if I do not have 35 years of work?
  • Who made that great vegetable pizza that was served at the workshop?

If you attended the workshop and have some feedback, or would like us to schedule another workshop in the spring, let us know.

For more information on IMRF, go to www.imrf.org or call 1-800-ASK-IMRF (1-800-275-4673). For more information on Social Security, go to www.socialsecurity.gov or call 815.740.2085.
