Election of Delegates to the IFT Convention
This notice acts as the official notification for the election of delegates to the convention of the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT) to be held October 15-17, 2010 in St. Louis Missouri.*
All Local 943 members in good standing (dues paid up) are eligible to be delegates to the IFT convention. Local 943 officers are automatic delegates as specified in the Local 943 constitution.
The number of delegates will be based on the Local budget approved by the Senate and determined by a formula in the IFT constitution based on an average membership for which the per-capita tax (dues) has been paid for the past three years.
The triennial convention is the policy-making body of the IFT. Delegates will vote on constitutional amendments, resolutions and the election of IFT officers. Local 943 delegates are expected to attend all general, division, committee and caucus sessions at the convention. Reimbursement, as provided in our reimbursement policy, will be based on one half of a double room and reimbursement for meals. Receipts must be provided for all reimbursable expenses. Delegates are responsible for making their own transportation arrangements.
* The IFT Convention is held on a rotating basis around the state. In the East St. Louis, Illinois area, there is no facility large enough to accommodate the convention, therefore it is held in St. Louis, Missouri.
