Local 943 Awards Two Scholarships For the 2008 - 2009 School Year
Congratulations To Kevin Doyle Kevin Doyle scored a 30 on his ACT, with a 35 in Math, earned a GPA of 4.182 with a rigorous course load of advanced placement and honors courses. He placed second at the regional World Wide Youth in Science and Engineering competition and has nearly 100 hours of community service. He has “an inner drive to help anyone” he can, especially children. Kevin has been accepted to the University of Illinois and will major in Engineering/Physics. In addition to considering engineering, Kevin has contemplated a medical career in pediatrics. Kevin graduated from Tinley Park’s Andrew H.S., and is the son of Norma Doyle, teacher at Wentworth Wilson-Calumet City School District 155.

Congratulations To Nicholas Shine Nicholas Shine scored a 32 on his ACT, with a perfect 36 in English, earned a GPA of 4.145, and participated in numerous high school activities, including being a member of the Drama Club and National Honor Society. He plans on attending the University of Illinois and is interested in the field of communications. He enjoys writing and expressing himself through literature and has a strong passion for acting, having been in several high school theatrical performances. His future aspirations include striving to be a broadcaster, public relations specialist or even an actor. “I would love to set an example for those who don’t think they can become famous with hard work and drive.” Nicholas graduated from Evergreen Park H.S., and is the son of union member Kim Shine, teacher at Evergreen Park Elementary SD 124.
