Local Forms Retiree Council

The newly formed Retiree Council of Local 943 held their first official general meeting on September 20, 2011.

At this meeting the by-laws for the new council were approved and an election of officers and Local 954 senators took place.

The Retiree Council will be involved in political, educational and social activities.

In the political area, the retirees will help advance legislation that improves the lives of retirees, work to defeat legislation that is detrimental to retirees, support local political issues and provide two-way communication with Local 943 on issues such as pensions and health coverage that affect retired members.

In the educational area, the Council will hold workshops on health insurance, discuss local contractual issues affecting retirees and act as a resource for volunteers, employment, clubs and mentoring.

In the social area, retirees will maintain collegiality through luncheons and breakfasts and serve as a resource for professional information and contacts.
