The following timeline outlines the deadlines for the
Part 226 changes:
January 1, 2008 — Illinois State Board of Education developed a state plan of resources and training to assist districts in implementing a response to scientific research-based interventions process.
By January 1, 2009 — Districts must develop a district plan to implement a response to scientific research-based Interventions process as part of the evaluation of a child suspected of or having a specific learning disability.
2009-2010 School Year — New class size provisions go into effect. Districts must adopt a plan that specifies limits on the workload of special educators.
2010-2011 School Year — Districts must implement a response to scientific research-based interventions process as part of the evaluation of a child suspected of or having specific learning disability.
