Ed Fialek, member at Burbank SD #111, was “spaced out” for 6 days this summer enjoying the Honeywell Educators Space Camp program at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Ed joined 250 teachers from 47 states and 27 countries who were awarded scholarships to participate in the astronaut-like training. Ed has made presentations at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry and some of his science students have made the finals in the Disney Planet Challenge!! He has been quoted as saying, “It helps that I love kids,” which is why he always brings back the knowledge he gains from conferences and experiences such as the one he had this summer to his students.

We are proud that Ed is a member of AFT Local 943 and look forward to his next adventure!
