"Dear Marci's" Health Tip of the Week

The federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) released two new checklists last month--one for men (PDF) and one for women (PDF)--to help us all remember to schedule important preventive health screenings.

The two-page tip sheet outlines what health screenings you need and when and makes it easy to keep track of your efforts using the enclosed chart.

Suggested screenings include common measures like getting your cholesterol and blood pressure checked along with new recommendations from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, such as abdominal aortic aneurysm screenings for men and obesity testing for everyone. Each checklist also explains who should take commonly recommended medications, like aspirin and hormones.
