Local 943 is pleased to present to its members a research-based professional development program created by the American Federation of Teachers known as ER&D. These quality staff development courses are available to all teachers and paraprofessionals. The goal is to encourage educators to improve their practice and student achievement by using research based techniques and strategies. |
RegistrationREGISTRATION is on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis. Cost: $50 (non-refundable) includes materials (30 CPDUs) For College Credit: Sign-up at first class for college credit Teachers can earn two graduate credits from Governors State University. Cost is the current price that the University charges per credit hour for off-campus courses. Paraprofessionals can earn two undergraduate hours from Prairie State Community College. Cost Cost is the current price that the College charges per credit hour for off-campus courses. Participants register for college credit at the first class meeting. Participants must attend all classes, read and participate in class discussions and activities. Talk to the instructors for college credit requirements. The Illinois Federation of Teachers provides classes that train union leaders--new and experienced in
All courses except the Financial analysis require a three weekend commitment. These classes are reimbursed by Local 943 according to established guidelines.
The ULI also offers classes in professional issues. This year three weekends are dedicated to special education issues. Each weekend covers one topic and provides the attendee with 9 CPDU's towards recertification. Local 943 does not reimburse members for professional issues courses.
