Local 943 Hits the Streets in Support of Moraine Valley Community College
A beautiful fall day, great company, and a shared commitment to strengthening our community!
On Saturday, October 10, members of AFT Local 943 took to the streets of Orland Hills to help spread the word about the upcoming Moraine Valley Community College referendum.
Local 943 President Elaine Bernal was joined by Vice President of Political Activities Yazen and Field Service Directors Charles Harper and Spencer Saal for a morning of community outreach. The group met up with Moraine Valley Community College staff before heading out into neighborhoods to connect with residents and share information about the referendum.
With beautiful weather on our side, it was a great day to get outside, have conversations, and encourage community members to learn more about an important investment in local education and workforce training.
The referendum would support improvements and expanded facilities for career and technical education programs, including welding, automotive technology, fire science, and emergency medical services. These programs help prepare students for meaningful careers while supporting the skilled workforce our communities depend on.
For Local 943, showing up for public education goes beyond the classrooms and schools we represent. It means standing alongside our community partners, supporting opportunities for students, and advocating for strong public institutions.
Whether we're advocating in Springfield, organizing our members, or walking neighborhoods to engage voters, Local 943 is committed to making a difference.
