Local 943 Delegates to AFT Convention 2022
has evolved from its beginnings as ”American Indian Week” in 1986-just a week-long celebration over the Thanksgiving holiday – to now a month-long celebration of the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, histories, and important contributions of Native people.
The IFT had been working for over a year to urge the Illinois State Board of
Education (ISBE) to abandon their misguided proposal to increase state testing for grades 3-8 and expand testing to grades K-2; and thanks goes out to every member who sent emails, made phone calls, and even testified in Springfield to help the IFT and our education partners stop ISBE’s ill-conceived interim assessment plan.
